If your nonprofit’s vehicle gets damaged, you want your insurance to help you get it repaired and back serving your mission as quickly — and as smoothly — as possible.

So, when your nonprofit needs to activate your NIA Commercial Auto policy, the quickest way to get an estimate is simple: Include photos with your claim

Estimates in as Little as 12 Hours for Minor Damage Incidents

When a vehicle is damaged, be sure to get pictures of everything at the scene — the vehicle, the damage, and anything else that might be relevant. Either you or your broker can submit the claim form and photos.

Including photos will make it much, much easier for NIA’s Claims team to review the damage to your vehicle and get you a timely estimate. In cases where the damage is minor, this can happen in as little as 12 hours!

Without photos, auto insurance claims can typically take anywhere from several days to a few weeks to process — and when you add in the time needed for the actual repairs, that’s a very long time for a nonprofit to be short a vehicle.

What to Include

In the event of a minor or moderate traffic incident, be sure your nonprofit’s drivers are trained to get photos for the insurance claim.

These can include images of:

  • All damage to the vehicle
  • Bonus points: Include a “before” photo of the vehicle
  • Any damage to other vehicles (plus their license plates)
  • Any property damage that may have occurred
  • The area and conditions surrounding the incident

Doing this can help NIA claims adjusters assess the damage, determine if the damage is covered by the policy or not, compare the vehicle’s value against the cost of repairs, and prepare a fair and accurate estimate.

After all, the more information your insurance provider has, the sooner you can get an estimate, the sooner the repairs can begin, and the sooner your vehicle will be back in action.
