RE: Nonprofit Property Protection Act

Dear Insurance Commissioners and NAIC:

Commercial insurers do not provide consistent and affordable property/casualty insurance to many types of community-based nonprofits. The commercial insurance companies only insure the less-difficult risks and shy away from reliably providing insurance to those caring for the most vulnerable in our communities.

At a recent hearing before the Senate Banking Committee the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) representative was unaware of any difficulties nonprofits have obtaining the property/casualty insurance they need. This is our message to let you know that the problem does exist. Nonprofits need access to more insurance options.

Please work with Chairman Brown to support his effort to allow RRGs to offer property options to nonprofits. Nonprofits need more options in the marketplace, not less.

Sincerely,
