Are you currently an active 501(c)(3) nonprofit?
NIA can only write 501(c)(3) nonprofits by law.
Federal legislation allows NIA to provide coverage only to 501(c)(3) nonprofits.
We advise you to reach out to other organizations of your designation to see where they are getting their coverage.
To get you a quote, NIA will need proof that you’re a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
NIA can’t provide you a quote unless we’re able to verify your organization’s 501(c)(3) nonprofit status.
You’ll need either an IRS Acknowledgement Letter, an IRS Determination Letter, or a copy of your Form 1023 along with proof of IRS payment for the quote process.

Is your 501(c)(3) nonprofit primarily engaged in one of these operations?
- Non-501(c)(3) Groups: e.g., 501(c)(4), 501(c)(6), unions, PACs, cemeteries, or funeral homes
- Associations: Chambers of commerce, trade associations, or homeowners/condo associations
- Athletics: Athletic leagues or competitive travel teams
- Certain Youth Groups: Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, fraternities, or sororities
- Detainment: Lockdown facilities or those holding people against their will
- Ideological: Primary focus on ideological teachings or positions on abortion
- Medical Services: Ambulance, EMS, first aid squads, blood banks, hospitals, or physicians
- Nursing Care: Non-ambulatory or nursing facilities (other than hospice)
- Outdoor & Rec: Campgrounds, retreats (property ineligible), or mountain bike/motorcross groups
- Property Developers: Nonprofits that build with the intent to sell
- Private Schools: Unless primarily serving an underprivileged student body
- Saddle Animals: Where animals are for hire
- Specialized Health: Detox facilities, methadone clinics, or medical marijuana dispensaries
- Zoos: Including all zoo operations
NIA cannot insure 501(c)(3) nonprofits primarily involved in these types of operations.
