Nonprofits in West Virginia need better insurance options.
Nonprofits in West Virginia have limited options when it comes to securing liability and property insurance.
Why isn’t NIA in West Virginia?
Although NIA is registered to write liability policies in all 50 states, we are not currently writing polices in this state because no companion property coverage is available. State-based insurance regulation has been unable to resolve this market failure, so NIA is working with Congress to correct this.
In short: Some insurance regulators are more interested in protecting their own turf than seeing nonprofits get the insurance they need at prices that make sense.

Insurance for Foundations and Democracy-Focused Nonprofits
Some civil justice organizations and the foundations that support them are losing insurance because they do civic or democracy work such as helping to increase voter registration or creating more opportunities for marginalized groups. NIA’s practice of continuing to insure these sorts of organizations has not changed.

As nonprofits, we have chosen to work for our communities rather than for personal profit. Is there hope there to be unlocked?
