Remembering Wilson M. Jones

Wilson M. Jones

The entire Nonprofits Insurance Alliance (NIA) organization was saddened this week to learn of the recent passing of Wilson M. Jones at the age of 84.

During his 17 years with NIA, Jones served as Chair of ANI, NANI, and AMS and was honored with the title of Chair Emeritus upon his retirement from the boards in 2017.

“Wilson was a wonderful man and just the perfect chairman for ANI during our early years,” said Pamela Davis, NIA Founder, President, and CEO. “There are so many people who contributed to NIA over the years, and Wilson was among the most important. The world has lost one of the best of us.”

Prior to joining NIA, Jones held senior management posts at the IBM Corporation and The Aspen Institute. After his retirement in 2001, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of BoardSource in Washington, DC.

Today, one of the Community Rooms at NIA’s Santa Cruz, CA headquarters is named after him, and his portrait greets everyone at the entrance to the room.

“Wilson enjoyed and took pride in his work with ANI,” said Anna Eaton-Jones of her husband. “It added purpose to his retirement, and he believed in the work that you do.”
